Chapter 29

Yay, another chapter! Sorry this one took so long, loves; it was supposed to be a Christmas present, but things got rather out of hand, ya? Call it a New Year's present. :D

Now, questions. Almost everyone asked the same thing: What the Dark Forest was Blackmoon thinking?

This one I can answer, and it is precisely why the Blackmoon chapter came before it; Blackmoon's having a crisis of faith. He's always known being a medicine cat would cost him Rosedapple; that's why he let Graywing be medicine cat. However, StarClan played a cruel trick upon him by taking Graywing and making him the medicine cat. He just had a chat with Stonestar about improving the Clan; if word gets out that he allowed Silverstreak to escape, Stonestar would no longer trust him and the chance to improve PeakClan would be gone. Blackmoon feels he needs to make up for that, to prove his loyalty, and he does so by capturing Silverstreak. He doesn't believe she'll be hurt, only held while they figure out how to get rid of the rogues.

Basically, he had a choice between StarClan and PeakClan, and he's really not feeling too friendly towards StarClan. StarClan asks so much of PeakClan, without paying attention to them; StarClan's busy with the original four Clans (right about now, Bluestar is probably still in her mother's belly) as well as all the trouble with FrozenClan and the others. PeakClan has been neglected by StarClan. Not only that, but he now knows that Lightstar was never even given nine lives; StarClan wouldn't even recognize him as leader. And now they're expecting PeakClan to sit idly by while newcomers seize their territory; StarClan is favoring one Clan over another. Blackmoon cannot let that stand, not while PeakClan is in danger. A string of corrupt medicine cats led PeakClan to where they are now, while StarClan concentrated on tougher things. Blackmoon feels it is his place now as the newest medicine cat to change that, to bring PeakClan to where they should be. When he feels PeakClan has returned to their traditional routes, then he will accept StarClan's judgment. But until then, he feels he must do what is best for his Clan, instead of being StarClan's plaything.

Hope that helps you guys; Blackmoon is honestly a sweetie at heart, and a good cat. I'd hate for him to get a lot of hatred when his intentions were good. Of course, so were Northstar's (kind of) but....xD

Queen of the Pens offered an opinion as well:

I think Stonestar should have given Silverstreak a chance to speak and defend herself. After all, I thought he was less comfortable with Northstar than Lightstar had been.

Now, that does make sense; it's true that Lightstar was fonder of Northstar than Stonestar is. But, at the same time, Stonestar respects Northstar. First, he saved Rosedapple's life; then later he saved Rabbitpaw's (even though it was kind of his fault). Northstar stayed with Rabbitpaw while she was healing, and now she is his apprentice; Stonestar respects that and is closer to Northstar because he is so close to his daughter.

Also, it wouldn't make a difference if Stonestar had allowed Silverstreak to speak; she would basically say what Northstar said, since Northstar used his own story to accuse Silverstreak. Because Silverstreak is the intruder, the enemy, if she repeats the same story as Northstar but accuses him, the Clan will hate her more than they already did. Even Stonestar would be more likely to believe Northstar than some random rogue.

Lynxeye:
Oh, and I wanted to ask how long your story will be. It's pretty long already, but I can't really see the end now, with so many characters and plots that still have to be linked.

Honestly, I'm not sure; this story is much longer than I thought it would be already. We're about half-way through the timeline (although I intend to skip through some of the middle stuff) we've got a lot of major events to cover still. It's amazing to me that this story's been going on for at least six months...hopefully it won't be six more. xD

Shimmertail:
I was wondering if you would ever consider doing a sequel to Snatched about Lume and Lightpaw re-forming Fear's group. Would you ever consider doing one?

Now this is an interesting question, because I've been considering so meting like it (probably not what you think). Basically, my plans for the next story are either a sequel to Shattered, or a Scourge story. I'll eventually post a poll for you guys to vote on the two ideas (after Shattered is over). But I can unveil the Scourge story now:

Basically, Scourge is reborn (like TR, but...not) although it has nothing to do with the will of StarClan. He's not born into a Clan, but to his own mate (he's his own son, basically) at the exact moment of his death. With Scourge dead, a power struggle takes place, and his mother is forced to flee, taking her kits with her in hopes that they'll survive. Baby!Scourge must attempt to survive, and hopefully retake his father's empire, while trying to learn about the strange memories that afflict him.

The story will be a bit odd; Baby!Scourge will basically follow his old life (the storyline of Rise of Scourge, the manga) only with twists on each major point and some of my own invention. Along the way he'll run into Lune and Angel, and we'll see how they're doing...they'll be very important.

It sounds a bit strange (putting ideas into writing is so hard D:) but, y'know. Anyway, short and sweet: If I write the Scourge story, we'll indeedly see Lune and Angel.

Numbuh 28

Aight, here we go like usual!

Now, there were several good questions, but Queen of Pens was one of the best; normally I don't wonder why a character does/does not do something, just that they do/n't. She asked why Northstar didn't just kill Blackmoon. I thought about it a bit, and realized that killing him would be an awful blunder. I'll post her question/reasoning, and walk ya through it~

Queen Of The Pens: I don't understand why Northstar doesn't go ahead and kill Blackmoon. After all, Blackmoon knows all his secrets and Northstar is already very twisted - he's killed his father and quite a few others. Is it because he actually, genuinely cares for Rosedapple, or is there some other reason behind him not killing Blackmoon? Northstar just doesn't seem like a character who would care for other cats.

Let's go through this step by step, eh? In amazing bullet form!

*Firstly, Blackmoon does NOT know Northstar's secrets. He basically knows that Silverstreak has some history with Northstar, and also that Forest was almost killed by him. Neither of those are really cause for concern, since PeakClan has always been brutal when handling rogues; PeakClan would probably applaud him for it. That isn't a whole lot to hurt Northy's rep; in fact, he uses it to his advantage in Chappy 28, as we see.

*Northstar has only very rarely killed with his own paws. Don't get me wrong, he's an incredibly brutal fighter when it comes right down to it, but he has a bit of finesse. He never took a single life from his father himself, and he always manipulated others into doing distasteful things; he even made other cats kill the medicine cats of the forest Clans! Why would he kill Blackmoon himself?
*He does care for Rosedapple. They're close, especially since he sort of equates her situation with his own mother. She's grown on him, like Rabbitpaw; why else would he make her promise not to end her own life? Why else would he warn Blackmoon to keep away from her?

*Blackmoon doesn't suspect Northstar of killing Lightstar, either, because of what he says to Silverstreak in this chapter; Northy killing Light would make no sense, from an ambitious stand point, because he'd just have a new leader with nine shiny lives to defeat in order to climb his way up the totem pole.

*It would be an incredibly bad idea to kill the only cat that can heal anyone in your Clan (he has no apprentice, remember!) especially with your arch-enemy and her group of rogues lurking around. Remember, he has no idea how many of them there are, or how strong; he has to assume that at least Ravenwing and Frostfeather are with her, and Eaglestrike, plus perhaps Brownfur and Silverstar, since they're also missing. And he knows how persuasive she can be, so he has to assume she has a large group of rogues aspiring to be warriors with her, probably being trained in butt-kicking. As such, Blackmoon is the only cat who could tend to anyone if anyone was hurt, or if a sickness decided to rear its ugly head -- remember, it's during leaf-bare.

*He knows Blackmoon's secrets are a little juicer than his own; he could turn Blackie against Rosedapple completely if he chose. Blackmoon won't risk that.

Hope that cleared some stuff up for you; enjoy your reviews like always, Queen. :)

The other main question is from another loverly reviewer, Lynxeye.

Lynxeye: I wondered why Lighstar didn't appear to give Stonestar one of his lives. Is it because he didn't want to tell him how he died? Or is he ashamed?

A little of both, really. Lightstar popped straight into StarClan, because he was honestly a good cat, even though he should have never been leader. Once in StarClan, though, StarClan had all the time in the world to show him all of his mistakes, everything he did wrong (Graywing, going to pieces after her death, Rosedapple, etc.). So he's filled with shame, from all he did wrong. (Fun fact: His warrior name was Lightheart, but not in a "beacon of gloriousness" kinda way, more in a "everything's a joke :D" kinda way, although he was a very good warrior). That and he was ashamed of how much he completely went crazy and offed himself, meant that he couldn't face Stonestar at that moment. He might talk to him later, but Lightstar has to come to terms with his own faults and accept them before he could bear facing any of his Clanmates.

C-c-c-chaaaapter 27!

Yo! Chapter 27's up and beautiful!

Sadly because I didn't get as many reviews this chapter (loved yours again, lynxeye; I'm really grateful you take the time to go through it again to get everything :)), there aren't many questions. Lynxeye was wondering about Sandpelt, so I'll just gab a bit about him.

Firstly, you're right, we haven't seen Sandpelt, which is precisely the point. You had it right when you said Stoneheart was sensible; he's smart, strong, and loyal to the warrior code; a real pillar, you could say. And because of that, he picked a cat who is equally loyal. Let's face it, Stone didn't have a lot of options; Dapplefern's yucky, Fawncloud's too soft, Foxclaw's a crab and hard-headed, and most of the others are on their first apprentice right now. Sandpelt has already mentored an apprentice; not only that, he's really quite smart, and is honestly a good cat. He keeps his head down, never causes any real ripples of unrest in the Clan, and he's good at heart. He makes for a reliable deputy, but he's a little out of place in a leadership position, so he'll listen closely to Stoneheart. After Lightstar's abrupt demise and the troubles he left behind, the last thing Stoneheart needs is a deputy who will contradict him; Sandpelt won't. Sandpelt doesn't know much about leading, so he'll follow Stoneheart's own lead; only if Stoneheart is way out of line will Sandpelt attempt to check him, and Stoneheart /does/ recognize that he might go overboard attempting to straighten the Clan out. So really, Sandpelt is an excellent choice.

And there you have it! That's about all for this chappy, I guess...except one thing I noticed. The first few Peaky chappies, everyone called the rocky outcropping "the Pillar". Now it's transformed into "the Peak". Weird. @.@

Tripe Chappy Update~

It's been awhile since I updated this, so here we go! Questions & Answers for Chapters 23, 24, & 25!

Rainshimmer: Will Tremor's group appear again? Will they join Silver & Co.? What's Maggot gonna do? Is Nightshade ever gonna get some sense whacked back into her? She's not gonna die soon, is she?

Firstly, I think we'll see Tremor's group again; they can't let three murders just slide, right? As for whether or not they'll join Silver, I can't say (I might or might not have not even decided yet xD). Maggot will most likely ally with Slaughter rather than be taken over forcefully; by being an ally, he'll know more about Slaughter's plans and goals. As for Nightshade, I guess we'll see. :3

Lynxeye: Are those bosses Eaglestrike mentioned the same kind as they were in Snatched? Or is it even the same city?

They are the same "kind" of bosses; I'm sure that every city has a few boss cats that keep tabs on everything. Some of them are as strong as, say, Scourge or Ruin; some of them are weaker and thus there are more. This is not, however, the same city as the one Snow & Co. went to.

Insane: Blizzardkit's name changed, so why didn't Buck's or Jag's or Shimmer's?

Blizzardkit is too young to really even know what his name means; he won't even remember being 'Blitz'. He'll be raised as a warrior would, with a warrior name. Shimmer, Jag, Buck, and anyone else who joins, however, are raised in a completely different manner. Their old names are a part of them; until they're willing to let that part go, they cannot be re-named. The older cats have to learn the warrior code and adapt to being in a Clan before they earn their warrior names. Shimmer is an interesting case; she's too old to forget her old life, but she's willing to adapt to a new one. Silverstreak is simply going to wait until she becomes an apprentice to rename her, since it's less than a moon away anyway.

Also, I'd like to thank lynxeye especially for her amazing review, but I want to thank the rest of you guys as well! They really make me feel loved and I think they help me improve too. <3

Chappy 23

Alright, chapter 23 is here! Another Nightshade chappy for those who were wondering what she's been up to.

And, of course, questions!

ValroggTheInvincable: And Northstar, do you think if Lion knew about him that they would team up, like, TalonClan and PeakClan vs BirchClan?
As epic as that would be, no. Remember, Northstar is selfish; he wants everything to himself. If he has a choice, he would obviously rather have TalonClan than weak old PeakClan. Lion wouldn't align with anyone if he didn't have to, and he would hear about Northstar from the others; he would never join forces with someone so power-hungry and dangerous, especially since BirchClan is so tiny right now.

Queen Of The Pens: What I don't get is why PeakClan allowed Northstar to keep the suffix 'star' at the end of his name. The stars are sacred to the Clans, and only leaders are allowed to be called 'star'. I like Shimmer. Is the kit that Lion pretended was his son her brother? Also, I find myself disbelieving the part of the story in which Lion kills six perfectly healthy, hand-picked warriors. Has he got some special power from StarClan?
Lotsa stuff to discuss here! First (and I think I've mentioned this) PeakClan is really lax about names, as Blackmoon shows. Northstar isn't leader anymore, so Lightstar doesn't care. Northstar would never change his name anyway, as he is clinging to the prestige associated with it. PeakClan is already so far away from StarClan that they don't care. For the second question, I don't know (wink), and for the last, you have a really good point there. First, when Lion first showed up, everyone was skeptical of him. He managed to take the first two or three mainly by surprise. The others come from his motives; Lion didn't (doesn't) care whether he lived or died. He was throwing his all into the battle, and the damage he took didn't matter. The cats he were fighting cared about their lives and were loyal to Slaughter, thus they didn't fight with abandon. They tried to preserve themselves, while Lion soaked up the damage. That makes a huge difference, when you have nothing left to live for.

Not so many, but that's okay.

I'm pretty pleased with this chapter, though. Nightshade crossed the line when she killed Swansong, but she's starting to see the line, too. Questioning Blight is a big step for her~

Also:

NaNo begins November 1st, so I won't be working on this until either I win NaNo, or it is over. Sorry! In the meantime, you can follow me on NaNo (ID 462055) and on FictionPress (Prin Pardus) because I'll be posting my NaNo on there. Please stay loyal, and welcome Shattered back when I get to update again! Remember, I love you guys!

Chapter 21, 22, 23, oh my!

Yup, time to answer some questions~!

Blizzard-dream: Robin's dead. Or is she...? We never actually saw her dead body, now did we? What's going to happen to Death?
She's definitely dead, unfortunately, or else Barb would have had to reason to bother Blight about getting Belladonna, right? Poor Robin never had a chance, although she refused to fold, surprisingly. As for Death, he just needs some practice. Before now, he's always had someone to mooch off of (as we might find out soon), but he's on his own now and has to fend for himself and support the Clan. He just needs some time and training to get the hang of things.

Hiddenfilly: Does Northstar seriously think he can win without StarClan's help?
Sadly, yep. To him to seems as if StarClan turned their backs on him. Not only that, but StarClan hasn't done much for the Clans, at least in his eyes; they didn't warn the forest Clans of FrozenClan's plans, and they didn't tell Frozenstar that his son was planning his death, nor did they save Brackenheart and Birdpaw, the only two cats who mattered to Northstar when he was young. To him, StarClan seems almost powerless; if they had power, why let a medicine cat die? Why let Northstar seize power and destroy the forest Clans, only to lose his power to Crowtalon (and eventually Lion)?

Crowstorm: So anyways, why was Northstar so mad?
You didn't miss anything, don't worry! Northy has problems. He's angry about his part in Rabbitpaw's injuries (and perhaps death) as well as how Rosedapple is bent on ending her life, and he's conflicted about some other things that we'll eventually see.

Lynxeye: I wonder where Stoneheart was when Graywing died?
Stoneheart was there, but just as shocked and shaken as everyone else...Graywing was actually his sister! He was too overcome by emotion to take control. Northstar wasn't close with Graywing, and saw her as the reason for Rosedapple's grief, so his emotions weren't as strong.

I'd also like to say a few more things:

First, it really surprised me how much hate Lightstar/Graywing have received. Males turning on their female mates isn't that uncommon, even in canon (Spiderleg/Daisy, for example, or the countless toms who moved on after their she-cats died; Crow/Feather, Fire/Spotted, Gray/Silver, to name a few). Lightstar is, at heart, a good cat. He's a little young to be leader and overtaken by emotion easily; he lacks responsibility. Graywing is gentle, but very emotional as well, and although her loyalty to StarClan was great, she always was true to StarClan. And, as her last words showed (kinda) she and Lightstar never actually meant to hurt Rosedapple. If Lightstar had known Rosedapple was pregnant, he would have never continued his affair with Graywing. Unfortunately, by the time Graywing realized she was pregnant, it was too late. Then, there is PeakClan's society; StarClan is a distant thing to them, a force outside of their daily lives. Breaking the warrior code by mating with a medicine cat isn't shocking or strange to them like it would be in, say, RiverClan. It just doesn't matter to them; Graywing just has a little tougher time doing her job, is all.

And then, new reader Queen of Pens brings up some excellent questions. First, Northstar could still easily kill two cats, even after running. He was born in the mountains, remember, so even though his paws took a bit of a beating, there wasn't nearly as much damage to them as there would be to a normal cat. Also, he has always been a good runner; it takes much farther to tire him out than with normal cats. Finally, he did have a bit of time to rest. The patrol that found him and been moving constantly trying to find him, whereas all he had to do was sit and wait for them, allowing himself to rest. And then, about Slaughter: If you haven't found out already, Slaughter isn't a terribly important character, merely a stepping stone to the true antagonist, Lion. Lion is the more compassionate, emotional character you were thinking about. Slaughter is a bit flat, but it's intentional; he's a stereotypical "for the evulz/for the power" villain, and while he's scary, the capabilities of revenge-bent Lion are much more terrifying, simply because he knows right from wrong and chooses to ignore it. Also, he doesn't much care for Toxin. She looks very much like her mother; Slaughter didn't mate with her mother for love, merely power, due to her heritage. Toxin's mother managed to escape him, fleeing with his other daughter. This fact - that he didn't completely control her - has caused him to hate even the thought of her. Toxin's resemblance to her mother stirs up that hate, and he knows it clouds his judgment, thus he sends her away to help him focus. Also, he couldn't have known it would/could be suicide on her part; she's highly skilled in battle, and in his mind any cat of his kin should be able to kill three she-cats at the very least.

Next chappy is about Nightshade, guys, stay tuned~!

Chapter 20, loves~!

I'd like to thank you all again for the reviews, first! So many long reviews were really awesome, and I hope the trend continues, ha. Thank you all very much!

warriorcrazy: Ew...is it just me or is Belladonna uh, um, falling in love with (ugh, ew) Blight?
It isn't just you, not at all. Her warped mind and the way she thinks he "saved" her has twisted any feelings she used to have for him into a revering sort of love. Eww indeed.

Wolfstorm100: I love the intricate plot behind Blight, I never suspected him to be connected to Slaughter by any means. The "lessons" that Blight teaches caught my interest too. If you read Guardians of Gahoole then you'd know what I'm talking about when I say this reminds me somewhat of Moon-Blinking....
Blight isn't so intricate; he was one of Slaughter's scouts that were send out in Crowtalon's chapter. It was a long time ago, and it's okay you didn't remember, but don't think more of me because I pulled something like that, ha. I'm not that cool. xD. I kind of remember moon-blinking; I read the books in fifth grade or so, but I tired of them after like book six....

Rainshimmer: Is Shimmer is Slaughter's daughter?
Ha, interesting conclusion. However, both of Crowtalon's daughters were the same age; whoever is or was Toxin's sister would be the same age as she is now. Crowtalon didn't father any other kits after his mate ran off. Of course, Shimmer and Slaughter might still be connected....

Also, I received a lot of questioning about Belladonna/Nightshade's name. I was kind of surprised at some of them, but I understand. To make things simple, there is a plant called deadly nightshade. It is, as you'd imagine, a deadly herb. Belladonna is another name for the same plant (so yes, I knew when I introduced her that this would eventually happen to her, one way or another). Now, it sounds like a warrior name to us, because we're so used to them, and shade is a some-what common prefix in Warriors fanfiction. However, Nightshade is NOT intended to be a compound Warrior-type name. Nightshade is a single noun, just like Robin, Jay, or Blizzard. TalonClan goes by one-word names, after Slaughter decreed it be so - such as Feather, for example. When Blight named her Nightshade, he was using his knowledge of the plant to compose the perfect name; frightening and deadly, just as Belladonna now is. So, Nightshade isn't a warriors name, it's a single word. It would be like naming her Yarrow or Yew, or Deathberry (ha). Also, she wasn't named for her pelt; 'Blight' doesn't conjure up an image for a pelt. Slaughter moved his Clan so far away from StarClan's ideals that names didn't have to mean anything anymore, even pelt color as they had for so long. So again, Blight was showing how he was turning his back on his ancestors; not only is Nightshade's name a single noun, but it also has nothing to do with her pelt.

So ya. :3

Chappies 18/19!

I just realized that I didn't post anything for Chappy 18. Well, here we go.

goldendusk:...You just love toms using she-cats as part of violence for your stories, don't you?
Sure seems that way, huh? But that's really just how cats are. Tom cats in the wild will mate with basically anything that moves; even other toms, their mother, or their sisters! They don't have a lot of restrictions. And then, this is also drawing off a bit from soldiers. In the past (and even now) soldiers such as Slaughter's scouts would take anything they wanted from the land and people; including sex. Raping wives and daughters of the enemy was common and not even frowned upon, often; what Slaughter doesn't know won't hurt him, right? It's also a powerful method of control, something most of these evil toms very much enjoy.

lynxeye: And where does Chillcome from? Those eyes remind me of Slaughter, but did he have a mate?
Chill's origin isn't important (at the moment) but might come into play later. Slaughter had a mate mentioned in his first chapter; she ran away, though, taking one of his kits with her. His other kit was Toxin, and she's obviously older by now, so Chill isn't his son.

Rainshimmer: Is Blight the cat that Belladonna's been dreaming about killing?
At first I thought he might be, but I decided against it; even if he was, it wouldn't matter, as we see in chapter 19.

Rainshimmer:  Like, why did Shimmer come along with Ravenwing and company? Who the heck is Shimmer anyway, and where did wh come from? How is she signifigant? In case you can't tell, I'm very curious about Shimmer. How do Silverstreak and the gang intend to deal with PeakClan? Are they going to try and recruit cats? What are they going to call the new Clan? Will it be BirchClan again, or will they call it SilverClan? And are Shimmer, Jag, and Death going to join the new Clan? What about Blackmoon? When is Northstar coming back?
First, dear GOD you ask a lot of questions! Second, Shimmer has nowhere to really go, since her mother hasn't come back and she'll probably starve on her own. Shimmer's past will be revealed soon; she's very impotrant, as we'll soon see. Silverstreak isn't sure what to do about PeakClan, but she knows she'll have to expose Northstar or confront hi first, and soon. The name of the new Clan is my little secret. Blackmoon, although he hates how PeakClan is run, is still very loyal to his Clan. Shimmer and Death already joined the Clan, Jag and Reedrush will likely join as well. Northstar should also be back soon, hopefully from his POV. Silverstreak and co will try to recruit when they can, but we'll just have to see~

Now, about chapter 19. There's a lot to say. First, I'd like to thank bookworm for helping me write it. Second, I'd like to apologize for the time it took; it was kind of long and the method of brainwashing had to be researched and such. Now, for the brainwashing itself....

The entire thing took place in about twenty days (we're on like Day 43 for Belladonna/Nightshade, I think). Now, that's obviously a short time to lose all your faith in...everything, but there are many reasons it was so effective. The main one was that Mother was Belladonna's whole world. She was the authority figure. Once Mother died, there was a gaping hole in Belladonna's life that she couldn't fill. She tried to direct her life as best she could, by following her dreams to the forest, but even though Robin thought Belladonna had adapted, she really hadn't. She didn't know how to lead; she didn't know where they were going. In all likelihood, Belladonna would have never found a place where she felt they belonged. She and Robin would have continued to roam until either they died, or the differences that were emerging rapidly between them frayed the relationship. Robin never really wanted to be in the wild; it wasn't where she belonged. She was too close to Belladonna to leave her, though, but even after entering the forest she knows she doesn't belong. She sees how strong Belladonna seems, and is jealous, especially since Bella bosses her around. Robin would eventually have given up on Bella and left her, leaving Bella to roam around alone until despair set on her too. This is obviously not what StarClan intended, but they couldn't interfere, when their connection to Bella was so weak; Bella had no Clan blood or knowledge, only a good warrior heart. Like Firestar, all StarClan could do was give her dreams at first, without truly contacting her. Thus, they couldn't stop Blight from overpowering her, and as Bella's good heart began to crumple under the stress of torture, they couldn't even enter her dreams.

Also, Blight seems a bit odd to those who remember TalonClan. TalonClan never declared war on StarClan, or set up any sort of weird rituals. Blight improvised on these as a method of control, a way to control Bella to do what he wanted her to, a way to make her think he had everything the way he wanted it. Obviously losing an eye wasn't part of the plan, but he was smart enough to even use that to his advantage, laying the guilt on her even more thickly.

Really, Belladonna never stood a chance. Also, to those wondering about her name, belladonna is the prettier name for deadly nightshade. He knew that, and figured it would make sense; it sounded fearsome, like the rest of TalonClan's names, and it showed how completely he controlled her, that she would give up her name and identity entirely in hopes of becoming 'good'.

Honestly, I'm pretty pleased with this chapter, even as dark as it is. Please review and let me know what you guys thought~!

Chapter 17, darlings!

Yay, another chappie! And more questions to answer, squee!

Seriously, guys, I love answering questions, so don't be afraid to ask! I won't eat you!

Bramblelegs: Aren't burdock leaves used for rat bites?
Yes they are, darling! However, rat bites run a very serious risk of infection, and the burdock leaves soothe/help with infection. To my knowledge, they are most potent with rat bites, but are very valuable with other wounds as well.

Anonymous: When is Silverstreak going back to her friends?
Good question, probably one that many of you are wondering about. I can't really say anything (mostly because I don't even know, as stupid as it sounds). However, I'm leaning towards it being very soon, so no worries!

Rainshimmer: When in the timeline is this? Is it before or after Lion takes over? Is Snake going to be important later on? What's going to happen in the NorthxRosexBlack triangle? Speaking of which, why hasn't Northstar been renamed? He did join PeakClan, right? So, shouldn't he have gone back to being Northwind?
First, I adore you. Second, the timeline in this story is very flexible; this is my first time writing from so many viewpoints, and everyone seems to be on a different page. Lion overthrew Slaughter on Day 17. He kicked out Brightfire the next day. On Day 19, he adopted Chill. For Belladonna, the day she was captured was Day 24. The day Silverstreak returned to Forest was Day 20. So yes, when she met up with Snake, Slaughter had already been overthrown. We'll see Snake again, but he'll be dead; he was never very important, except for the fact that he attempted to mate with Brightfire's sister, Rainsplash, after her miscarriage, and lost an eye for his troubles. He also has a thing for silver she-cats (Rainsplash, Silverstreak, Reedrush), which, as we see later, leads to his eventual death. As for NorthxRosexBlack...we'll see. Northstar remains with his name partly because of what his name represents (power, prestige, the position that he believes he should have) and as long as he makes Lightstar think that he has nine lives, Lightstar would refer to him as Northstar. Unlike Brokenstar, who was renamed, Northstar is not a prisoner; thus he still maintains his power as leader. Lightstar is (foolishly) secure in his leadership, and thus sees no reason to assert his authority over Northstar by renaming him.

Hope those answers helped you guys! Vote on my poll on my profile, and review~!

Chapter 16: Up!

Another chapter, finally! It took forever to write; I've had major major writer's block with everything the last few weeks...and then school is a factor too. D:

Anyways, question time~

Lynxeye: I was a little surprised about the name 'Blitz'. In German, it means lighning, but is it used in English, too?

I believe it's a football term, also, here in America. Blitz was actually born a kittypet; his owner, being a football fan, named him after a certain play. Blitz assumed it was because of his speed, and when he joined the Kalan, that is what he told them. It's actually a tribute to an old friend of mine; he was in an old role-playing site, my very first; he was a truly great guy (awesome at role-playing romances, let me tell youuuu) but after the site collapsed we lost contact. Anyways, he had a character named Blitz...so. If you're reading this, Bramble (I seriously doubt it, since you left after losing interest in Warriors), I miss ya~

The Violet Gleek: Will we ever see Belladonna again?

I can't say anything...but if we do, you might not like who you see. ;)

Rockpool: Is there a possible ReedXJag sooner on? I know Reed isn't going to and have more kits, but they could still become mates. Is there going to be a ReedXJag?

I can tell you about as much about ReedxJag as I can ForestxSilver, loves. Keep your fingers crossed~

Unfortunately, since you guys didn't really review a whole lot, there weren't many questions...BUT Forest, Jag, and Reed are now on the character bios section of the blog, by request! Go look at them if you must~

New chapter!

Chapter 15 is up, which means I'd normally be answering questions. However, you guys really haven't asked any (besides ForestxSilver, obviously). So.

Flamesong: Northstar won't know where Silverstreak is, since she said her name was Shimmer. Mousepaw and Rainwind probably won't even mention her to Lightstar, in case he gets angry that they just left her there unsupervised, and even if they did, Northstar would just think it was a random loner in the territory. Sorry if the Ravenwing thing confused you; she knows a lot about herbs because she was training to be a medicine apprentice for several moons, switching to a warrior apprentice in the last few moons of her apprenticeship for Eaglestrike.

Just because my last few pairings (TigerxFox, SnowxFrost, kinda TigerxGinger) ended with death doesn't mean this one will...I mean, there's a high chance that it will, but maybe it won't. Maybe.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed this chapter; it was so long, gawdddd.

Also, funnily enough, I recently joined a role-play site where the leader was a follower of Shattered! (Brownie points, heck ya~). Kat, if you're reading this, I'm really excited about being in the guild! :D

Also, guys, we've got a sequel in the works! I'm not leaking anything yet, but the title will be Chilled. Interpret that however you like. I might have a bio for one of the main characters soon. ;)

Sneak Peak: Prologue

This is a peek at the prologue for a story I'll be writing soon, on FictionPress. It's my first FictionPress story, but I think it'll be a fun one. Enjoy this glance~
She whimpered, clawing at the clear door that was all separating her from her family. She could see them, the dark shadows huddled together in the small room, a small blaze burning in the home-of-the-fire. By contrast, she was shivering and cold in the darkness, out of the place she had once called home.

She whimpered again, unable to understand how things had changed so quickly. Why had her Girl abandoned her to the cold? Why had she let the cruel Man throw her away, like she was a scrap of trash? Didn’t her Girl love her anymore?

She must have done something wrong; yes, that was it. She had tried to be a good pup, quiet and obedient, never underfoot, but she hadn’t been perfect. She would try harder, oh yes she would, if only the People would let her back inside!

The fire suddenly flickered out, and the dark shapes began to stir. Hope leaped in the pup’s chest suddenly.

They’ll come and let me back in, she thought, I’ll do everything, the I’m-so-sorry whimper and the I’m-so-small belly-flattening, and maybe the I-love-you-still hand-lick for good measure, so they understand.

Her dark tail began to wag as the People rose to their strange paws, only to stiffen as they began moving away, going to the upper-house-place where they laid in the nests-full-of-soft-bliss and dreamed sweet dreams. The pup’s eyes widened, as she realized they weren’t coming for her, weren’t coming to let her in. The People were leaving her!

She let out howl of fright, remembering the stories of the-one-who-smelt-of-milk, the one that had birthed her so many moons ago. The-one-who-smelt-of-milk had been called “Mother”, and told her and her siblings of stories, stories of the terrible dogs that walked the streets and snapped up unwary pups.

She began trembling with fear, imagining the gleam of wild eyes in the shadows. She let out another howl, feeling misery well up in her little puppy-heart. Why had her People abandoned her?

Before she knew it, she had thrown back her head and poured her sorrow out to the stars, stopping only to suck in a breath before beginning again, crying for her Girl and for the-one-who-smelt-of-milk who had disappeared so long ago, and her siblings who had slowly stopped moving and grown cold. She cried and she cried until she simply collapsed on the doorstep, her muzzle resting against the damp stone that had been wet hours ago, drenched in the pouring rain.

A light suddenly blazed forth, and her head shot up, her black ears pricked. Hope leaped in her chest, and her heart began to pound. The light must be from her Girl! Her Girl must be coming down to rescue her from the darkness and the danger!

Her tail began wagging, and she made eager hurry-get-here barks, bouncing on her paws despite the weariness she had felt moments ago. She even spun in a circle, chasing her wagging tail, before stopping in fear as she felt the heavy footsteps pounding down the stairs. Her eyes widened as the dark shape appeared in front of the door, and she could feel her tail dropping, tucking right into her fold between her legs. She let out a whimper as the Man’s cold blue eyes pierced her, set in a dark face with black hair. He was hairier than most people, with thick hair growing on his face, contrasting sharply with his chilling eyes. She felt his gaze as sharply as she would a smack to the muzzle.

Slowly, he opened the door. She rushed forward, trying to get around his legs, only to feel herself being grabbed by her scruff. She hung there for a moment in his grip, powerless, before he flung her into the street. She landed in a puddle left by the rain. She wasted no time, springing to her paws and running back to him, letting out forgive-me-whimpers, but it did her no good. Twice more he flung her into the street, only for her to rush back. The fourth time she landed in the puddle, she stayed there, without even the tiniest scrap of strength. The water lapped against her muzzle, and her soft eyes stared at the Man. He watched her for a moment, before the door slammed and he retreated back to his sleeping-place.

She lay there limply, every bone aching from the force of his throws and the hardness of the ground. The water’s chill seeped through her pup-fur, and her eyes drooped closed.
Who is our puppy friend? What will become of her? And what's even the plot of this story? Hopefully we'll find out soon. The rest of the prologue will be on my FP account soon~

I know it's spaced weird, but I don't know why...sorry, guys, I'm still getting used to things here!

C H A R A C T E R  B I O S
| S H A T T E R E D |

Hey, guys! You might recognize these bios from my deviantART. I didn't like the way they were displayed there, so I'm moving them to here. They'll still be in my scraps. This post will be for the Shattered bios only; keep an eye out for characters in future stories, though. The first cat creator  (created by Kamirah on dART, link below) will be for she-cats while the second (created by Neikoish, link below) will be for toms.

Silverstreak is kind and gentle, as well as understanding of others. She's very open and trusting, but this makes her vulnerable and gullible. She believes everyone can have a second chance, and that they deserve one. This gets her into trouble when she trusts the wrong cats. She's honest above all else, but can become enraged if decieved. Sometimes she puts missions before her friends, or arranges her priorities in a way that others disagree with, putting StarClan before everything else, even those that are close to her. She's never been in  love, or felt any attraction towards any other cat, and so she doesn't quite understand the emotions that power others. Sometimes she's sorrowful, remembering BirchClan and those who died fighting for it. She's made a vow to recreate it as a new Clan, somewhere where AuroraClan's taint will never touch it again.

Ravenwing is the sister of Frostfeather; they are complete opposites. Ravenwing is gentle and soft-spoken, with a knack for smoothing over conflicts and soothing others. She's known for her patience and her diligence, never giving up no matter how the odds are stacked against her. She's more of a healer than a fighter, but she is still an excellent hunter. She is very shy, and adapting to a Clan full of new cats promises to be a struggle forever; it is, however, a struggle she intends to win.

Frostfeather is one of Silverstreak's best friends; they've always been very close to one another. Frostfeather and her sister are polar opposites; Frostfeather is fiery and spirted, and willing to fight for her friends no matter the cost. She does have a tender side, but she exposes that only to her friends and to kits. She's known for having quite a temper; her name makes her sound gentler than she actually is. She also has an appetiate for toms, no matter of fur-color, temperment, or even Clan. For this reason, her loyalties are sometimes questioned, but she'd never turn against her true Clan.

Northstar is remarkable in appearance for his white fur and black paws, and he is also renowned for his tactical brilliance and cold heart. He carefully orchestrated his father's death to gain power for himself, as Crowtalon, his deputy, brought to light. Sly and cunning, he's not above using good deeds to fuel dark motives. His hunger for power has not been dampened by his betrayal at the paws of his deputy. As a young apprentice, he was shy but sweet, blossoming under Brackenheart's careful training. After he lost Brackenheart in a terrible battle, as well as the apprentice he loved from afar, he became more withdrawn and bitter, despite being trained by his father as he had always wished. Despite his deeds, his faith in StarClan is actually very strong, although his sense of morality is much weaker.

Lion was once a proud, strong warrior that led a small family of loners. However, when BirchClan learned of the family's existence, Fadedstar gave Lion a choice: Side with BirchClan against FrozenClan, or be exiled. Lion's mate, Clover, was with kits and too far along to be moved safely, giving Lion no choice but to fight for BirchClan. In their first attack, everyone including Clover was killed, leaving Lion the sole survivor of the battle. The sorrow of losing his entire family twisted him, and sent him looking for revenge. He found it by killing Slaughter's nine guards, then Slaughter himself, but he won't be satisfied until all of BirchClan, which he holds also responsible, is no more.

Darkstorm is an strange character. He is incredibly lazy, barely lifting a paw to clean his own fur, let alone take care of an entire Clan's worth of cats. He also loves she-cats, flirting with basically anything that moves (he has an immense crush on Frostfeather, but she doesn't appear to return his affections). Darkstorm also has a puzzling fear of kits, although even he doesn't quite understand why. Despite being both lazy and a coward, he does have the inner strength of a warrior, if he could only see it within himself.

Forest is a loner, living in PeakClan's forest. For many moons, he managed to keep out of their way (unlike the old tom who had lived in the forest even before the Clan, who was eventually killed by a couple of apprentices) until Silverstreak stumbled onto the forest. Knowing that Silverstreak was scouting out the territory for herself, probably to bring more cats and settle down, he kidnapping her, hoping that her friends would come and, seeing that she wasn't there, move on. He was not an abusive kidnapper; Silverstreak suffered no harm at his paws, except self-inflicted injury. Forest is very laid-back, allowing Silverstreak some degree of freedom, and even chatting with her openly. He's a very good-natured cat, as is shown by his trademark smile. While hunting for Silverstreak, he was attacked and nearly killed by Northstar. Rather than fleeing, Silverstreak tried to tend to his wounds, although his recovery is not certain. He harbors a strong mistrust of all Clan cats, bordering on hatred, although he has not been shown to be violent towards them when not threatened.
(Forest's image is pre-Northstar-attack, since I made it before the notion of him being attacked ever entered my head. He'll obviously be a bit more scarred if he manages to fight off the infection.)
Reedrush is a fighter. Her family - called the 'Kalan', a twisting of the word 'Clan' - fell apart after her adoptive father's death. However, rather than giving in to hopelessness, she and her childhood friend Blitz managed to survive for many moons together. They were separated, however, soon before she realized she was pregnant with his kits. To give her kits a better chance at survival, she joined the Twolegs, only to escape from them when she realized they might steal her kits from her permanently. As this indicates, she is very family-orientated, and will gladly fight for any cat she holds dear. She is also quick to trust, despite the hard times she has suffered. A little impulsive and quick to judge others, she is a cat who, while usually gentle, possesses a strong fighting spirit.

Jag's appearance is a little shocking to those that do not know him. His large size, dark pelt, and twisted scars make him seem to be a more menacing cat than he truly is. Although he has no problem killing and is never afraid to use his claws, he is not a violent soul. A hard life shaped him into a strong cat, but it never gave him a hardened heart. He is notable for having a 'soft spot' for kits, probably stemming from the fact that his brother, whom he was very close to, died as a kit. Jag was unable to save his brother from another tom, and this feeling of helplessness and love for his brother probably fathered his protective feelings for kits. Despite this, Jag can be ruthless when he must, and if anyone he cares about is threatened, he will not hesitate to make the killing blow, often without asking questions. He is loyal to those who can earn his respect, but for such a hardened cat, it is very difficult.

Welcome!

Hey! If you found me, it was probably through fanfiction.net, right? If not, you might wanna back-track, because unless you're interested in my work (either on fanfiction.net or fictionpress.net) there really isn't much for you here. If you do leave, good luck on finding a blog you'd rather read. If you stayed, then awesome! You're probably one of my hundred readers/some number of reviewers (it varies, y'know?). If so, then you're at the right place. :)

I decided to make this blog in place of my usual Author Notes (AN's). Mainly because they take up a lot of space on my chapters, and yet sometimes I feel like I barely say anything in them. Here on this blog, I'll respond to ALL questions (whether through review or comments on the blog; PMs will get a direct response from me. Please note that I will NOT respond to questions about the plot in the future; you'll get no spoilers from me ;)). Questions can be from anything I've written, even things not posted on fanfiction.net (such as my earlier works, several of which were removed).

You can also Ask-A-Character any question you'd like (I'd prefer the characters were from finished stories, but on-going stories are open for questions too; any questions you ask will receive a respond directly from the character, as I'm just the dummy with the fingers (if you're an author, you know the feeling I'm sure).

Those that read the blog might also receive some sneak peaks, such as pictures of future characters, excerpts from stories that are as-of-yet unreleased, character bios (from Shattered onwards; mostly main characters, but I'll take others by request) and some more goodies as well~

This entire blog is really an experiment for me; let's see how this goes~!
